REVIEW #4 | MILLY'S RESTAURANT

Being the self proclaimed foodies that we are (or hope to think that we are), expressing fussiness to many a food selections, combined with unfortunate food allergies - road-tripping (which is a favorite regular occurrence for us) can at times be a little tedious (and a trip in itself), especially when the hunt for good, nutritious, Non-I'veBeenSittingInOilAllDay0foods to enjoy along the way comes into play.
So, it was with much delight we discovered (after driving past numerous times on previous road-trips) Milly's Restaurant located just before Machadodorp (between JHB and Nelspruit). The main restaurant is nestled in the corner of a fuel station | rest-stop,but as you walk through the welcoming doors + make your way through the beach-chic hallway, you can be sure to have your breath taken away (+ kinda forget where you are) by the escaping view of mountains, grazing cattle + stretch of water which the restaurant + deck expands over. The menu options were a great delight (and Disneyland compare to road-stop-food) + on both occasions we ate there, we were not disappointed. Our first was an early one (they open at 6:00am!) so we tucked into the Spinach, Mushroom,Feta Omelette while demolishing the Vegetarian Wrap (let's take a moment to appreciate the fries! HELLO!) + Full Breakfast on our return. We would visit every weekend if it was a wee closer, but a true gem for our many upcoming road-trips. And if you're a lover of Trout, you may have found heaven. And let's take another moment to appreciate their spotless restrooms with glorious toilet paper - no more 1/5 ply on the road folks!
VENUE TIPS
There are 2 other Milly's stores on the property - one which offers some take-away offerings if you're a little short for time + the other (Farm Stall) selling fresh, home-made produce and gifts. Plus, you can savor + stock on their infamous Trout Pies + other frozen goods... so don't forget the cooler. Accommodation (which looks just swarve) and conferencing is available too.
IN A NUTSHELL
Sh*t Hot Tasting 10/10 Pay-day or Budget Meal A little more than your usual rest-stop meal, but so worth it! To-be or Not-to-be Service To-be. Staff are very friendly, helpful and seem to be there right when you need them. Dead or Alive Alive, for sure.
