REVIEW #1 | THE FOUNDRY

We kinda despise that Foundry has been somewhat classified as a hipster clad meeting point, because we feel it's so far from that. From the diverse crowd of business elites to Parktown North locals, you've got a clam chowder bake of people which bring a great energy to this perfect after-work meeting spot + weekend chill stop.

We've always loved eating, drinking + popping in here for a late Saturday bite of their delicious Triple Choc + Toffee cheesecake and accompanying adult beverage or a fresh unusual meal after a long day. The staff are always on point, knowledgeable + seem to have actually tried the dishes they personally recommend. The attention to detail in food presentation, unique stoneware + branded linen napkins always impresses us. Yes, we feel these said linen napkins are pretty darn sharp. And let's not forget their incredible variety of craft beers + unique Gin / Tonic mixtures.

This night, we dove into their FRESH (not Frozen!) Belgium Moule Mussel Pots (which have 4 different bases to choose from) without hesitation. HO1 selected the white wine and herb option with sourdough bread and HO2 went for the Thai green coconut curry base with fries. Let's just say, blown away!

VENUE TIPS

If you're up for something sweet, be sure to ask them for their dessert options as these are not listed on the main menu and many miss this option.

They have food and drink specials on chalk boards in and around the restaurant which are not on the printed menu so don't be afraid to take a peek and stare.

Parking on their street is tight, but there's plenty on 7th avenue. If you're ok with walking a few extra steps; it's safe, well lit and a bustling road so worth it instead of trying to fit and find parking spots.

IN A NUTSHELL

Sh*t Hot Tasting 10/10 Pay-day or Budget Meal Pay-day or mid-month To-be or Not-to-be Service To-be, always! Richard is great! Dead or Alive Atmosphere is alive and kicking
